The desktop itself.
2.
Tools
3.
Water pump ( with plastic tub
on it )
4.
Glue gun
Procedure: ( as shown in the sketch)
1.
We are going to take out the
disk insert.
2.
Clear the inside.
3.
Insert the water pump.
4.

Meanings:
This
project is about technology. Now days everyone use computer, which make it very
easy for people to get knowledge. When one need help, he or she can simply
google it. Because of that, questions are raised about the use of computer and internet,
“Does it make us stupid?”.
Computer
is a powerful tool, we can get all the information from using it to browse on
line. And this is the idea of my project—“Knowledge Leak”.
I'm glad someone chose to use the computer for a project! It's a great idea as well, and I really like how there is a deeper meaning behind it. The irony is cool in the literal sense of the project, because youre using technology to make a waterfall when normally water is the last thing that should be near a computer. Are you creating a landscape to put the waterfall on?
回复删除I love the project idea. I think its really clever, a great use of the material, and you two have clearly put a lot of thought into it. I don't totally get from your sketch how you are going to pull this off but it looks like you have put a lot of thought into it! Good luck!
回复删除This idea is SO COOL! I like that you and Chan are collaborating (I think that'll be really cool!) I think your name "Knowledge Leak" is beyond clever and the theme you address is really incredible! I agree with Emma, I'm a little confused as to how you are going to build it - but honestly, I'm not too worried about it I'll be happy to just be amazed by the final product! Great work, guys!
回复删除I figure I'll just copy this from what I posted on Chan's...
回复删除I really like your concept, and I wish you luck on the actual construction! One thing that concerns me, however, is the use of water on the metal. You might need to line it with something, otherwise it might rust! I am also worried about putting it in the Media Lab, which is filled with computers, for the risk of something spilling. I think the "knowledge leak" meaning is really neat and I can't wait to see how it turns out!
Bob you and Chan are too cool. This is so creative and innovative and clever and awesome. I think contrasting the natural form and function of the waterfall with the geometric hard drive will make your piece stand out and have incredible power and movement. I think it might be challenging to connect everything and personally I'm terrified of wires, especially when mixed with water, but I am sure you guys will pull it off!!!
回复删除meghan is right, just make sure it is self contained and self preserving before any water is put in the system. and the horse although hilarious is kind of off topic. Maybe the engery from the wheels could be used to charge another pice of technology (iPhone, laptop). Although it probably could never happen if you set it up right (wheels>turning gears>motor box> plug> device) the image would work and people would appreciate the irony.
回复删除I think it is very original to think of waterfall in the computer. However, I think it will be very hard to get everything in control.
