The first impression I had about Istanbul was the interesting buildings. Because the airport was located next to the bay, my parents and I had to take a Taxi to run on the harbor side road in order to get to our hotel. On the way, I figured out that there were parts of the old walls for the protection near the water. However, those old ugly looking walls weren't sudden. Instead of lining on the side, local people builded their houses into or upon these walls.
It was unbelievable how beautiful they were when you look at them. The stones from the wall and those on the houses were perfectly attached together. The connection of hundred years old walls and the modernized buildings was so impressive. It made the new buildings perfectly fit into the nature.
